The position available is for a Ready-Mix Driver, a role critical to daily operations within the company. As a Ready-Mix Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a ready-mix concrete truck, delivering concrete to various job sites while maintaining a high degree of safety awareness and operational professionalism. The role's responsibilities encompass not only driving duties but also important tasks such as performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring concrete consistency during mixing and delivery, and keeping the vehicle and equipment in optimal condition. The driver is also expected to follow all relevant laws and company policies, including wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and adhering strictly to Hours-of-Service regulations, which includes a maximum of 11 hours of daily driving and up to 16 working hours.
Additionally, the Ready-Mix Driver should be capable of communicating effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, coworkers, and customers to coordinate safe and timely deliveries. Familiarity with concrete products and basic truck operations is essential to perform this job effectively. This role particularly suits individuals who are self-motivated, organized, and can manage responsibilities independently while on the road. The employer offers a structured sign-on bonus program, where a $1,000 bonus is paid out to experienced mixer drivers currently employed by ready-mix companies, split as $500 after training completion and $500 following three months of continued employment. Job Requirements
- Must have a valid class B driver’s license and current medical
- Tanker endorsement
- Reliable transportation
- Six or more months of driving experience
- Clean driving record with no reckless driving offenses DUIs or hit and run
- No more than 1.5 active points on driving record in the past 36 months
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work under supervision and coaching
- Physical ability to work outside in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to kneel reach and climb ladders while carrying materials
Job Qualifications
- Valid class B driver’s license with current medical certification
- Tanker endorsement
- 6+ months driving experience in ready-mix concrete delivery
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours-of-Service rules
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Basic knowledge of concrete products and truck operation
- Ability to work independently and take direction
Job Duties
- Operate and drive a ready-mix truck safely and efficiently adhering to DOT and company rules and regulations
- Perform proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections in a timely manner
- Visually inspect concrete consistency in the mixer and deliver loads at the correct slump
- Maintain equipment including cleanliness
- Complete and maintain a DOT Daily Logbook when required
- Communicate job hazards to supervisors safety department and fellow drivers
- Maintain a positive attitude and act professionally with coworkers and customers
- Work up to 16 hours following Hours-of-Service regulations
- Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times
