Job Description

Goodwill-West Texas is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to providing valuable employment opportunities and community services throughout West Texas. As part of the broader Goodwill Industries network, Goodwill-West Texas focuses on helping individuals with disabilities and other challenges achieve economic independence. The organization is recognized for operating retail stores that accept donated goods, which are then sold to fund job training, employment placement services, and various community programs. By contributing to a more sustainable community through the recycling and repurposing of donated items, Goodwill-West Texas supports environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This allows them to both serve the community in practical ways and further the mission of empowerment through employment and skill development.

The role of a Driver at Goodwill-West Texas is key to the smooth operation of the donation and resale cycle. The primary responsibility is to safely operate a 25-foot box truck on a daily basis to pick up and deliver both donated and new items to various store locations throughout the region. These deliveries and pickups are crucial to ensuring that goods circulate efficiently between donors, warehouses, and retail outlets, thereby supporting the sales that fund the organization’s community services. The driver represents Goodwill-West Texas to the public, so projecting a positive and professional demeanor is essential. Additionally, the role involves performing trash containment duties and maintaining a clean and safe work site, which contribute to the overall operational effectiveness and safety standards of the organization.

This position requires a valid Texas Driver's License with a strong driving record and experience handling a 25-foot box truck. Successful candidates will be comfortable lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds and able to load and unload bulky furniture, appliances, and other items using appropriate transport equipment such as dollies and flat beds. The job demands physical endurance, including standing, stooping, bending, and walking for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions. Some weekend work may be required to meet the logistical needs of the stores and warehouses.

In this role, communication skills and the ability to follow verbal instructions precisely are critical. Drivers must coordinate effectively with store managers, warehouse staff, helpers, and supervisors to ensure timely deliveries and pickups. Leadership skills may be required as drivers are expected to motivate and instruct driver helpers and perform duties with minimal supervision. Safety is a paramount concern, with the driver responsible for adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining an accident-free driving record to protect themselves, others, and the organization's assets.

Goodwill-West Texas drivers help sustain the flow of goods that keep the organization’s mission alive. If you're an experienced driver who values community impact, safety, and professionalism, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a respected nonprofit while working in a physically engaging and dynamic environment. This is a full-time position offering the chance to be part of an organization that makes a difference in many lives every day through commitment, care, and teamwork.
