Job Description
Vistar is a leading distributor in the United States, specializing in an extensive range of candy, snack, and beverage products. With over 25 distribution centers nationwide, Vistar serves a diverse customer base by delivering everything from classic popcorn to innovative healthy meal replacements. The company prides itself on staying ahead of snacking trends through close collaboration with its suppliers and customers. Vistar's culture promotes teamwork, integrity, and community involvement, making it an outstanding workplace for those passionate about the distribution industry and customer service excellence.
This driver position at Vistar offers an excellent opportunity to join a seasoned team of professional drivers, focused on providing efficient and safe delivery service in an environment that values employee well-being. The role is predominantly No Touch Freight, which reduces the physical demands on drivers, enhancing job satisfaction and career longevity. Drivers typically operate Monday through Friday on a schedule of 10-hour shifts with average departure times between 3am and 5am, ensuring a predictable work-life balance. A highlight of this position is the attractive sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, paid over one year, reflecting the company's commitment to rewarding skilled and dedicated drivers.
As a driver for Vistar, you will be responsible for the intrastate and interstate transport of food and food-related products using tractor trailers or straight trucks. Your routes will include local, over-the-road, shuttle, and occasional overnight deliveries, with up to one overnight per week based on business needs. Vistar provides per diem allowances and safe hotel accommodations when overnight stays are required. Safety and compliance are paramount; you will conduct mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections, adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and ensure all freight is loaded and secured properly.
Customer service is a key element of this role. You will professionally interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring orders are delivered accurately and on time. Tasks include loading and unloading freight, verifying deliveries, collecting payments when necessary, and handling any returns in accordance with company policies. Maintaining a secure vehicle and cargo at all times is essential. You will also manage detailed records such as hours of service logs and complete all required paperwork accurately.
This driver position is ideal for those with a valid CDL A license, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Vistar supports its drivers by providing a supportive work environment, competitive compensation, and opportunities for career growth. If you are ready to join a respected industry leader and advance your career in commercial driving with a company that values its employees, Vistar invites you to apply and become part of their dynamic team.
