The Driver Helper position at Core-Mark in Ypsilanti, Michigan, offers a competitive hourly wage of $16 with a schedule designed to promote work-life balance, featuring a 4-day workweek within Monday to Friday availability and 10-12 hour shifts. The role is vital to maintaining the efficiency and safety of Core-Mark’s delivery operations. The Driver Helper supports tractor trailer, tandem trailer, and straight truck drivers on both intrastate and interstate routes. This assistance involves helping with the loading and unloading of products, ensuring shipments are delivered accurately and on time while adhering to Department of Transportation regulations. The position requires effective communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers to provide professional and timely service.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1-3 years of related experience
- intermediate computer knowledge
- physical ability to regularly lift, carry, and position up to 30 lbs. regularly, up to 65 lbs.
- physical ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, or crawl
- ability to work in a noisy environment and potential extremes in temperature
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or 1-3 years of related experience
- intermediate computer knowledge and ability to learn/use computer programs on the job
- physical ability to regularly lift, carry, and position up to 30 lbs. regularly, up to 65 lbs.
- physical ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, or crawl
- ability to work in an environment which will expose the incumbent to a variety of noise and potential extremes in temperature
- 1+ years foodservice distribution industry experience preferred
- onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet) preferred
- hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e., POD) preferred
- customer service-related work experience preferred
Job Duties
- Assists the driver in the safe and accurate delivery of products to customers in a timely and efficient manner
- loads and unloads truck and/or company vehicles
- places products in areas identified by customers
- completes required documentation in a timely manner
- performs other related duties as assigned
