Job Description

Clean Harbors, based in Santa Ana, CA, is a leading environmental, energy, and industrial services provider operating throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Known for its commitment to sustainability and environmental safety, Clean Harbors offers premier waste management and remediation services to industries that encounter environmental hazards. With a focus on innovation, health, and safety, Clean Harbors works at customer sites across various sectors, ensuring that environmental compliance and industrial cleanliness meet the highest standards. The company emphasizes a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement, making it a sought-after employer in the environmental services industry.

The role of Class B CDL Driver at Clean Harbors is a critical position responsible for operating light and heavy-duty trucks to support hazardous waste clean-up efforts. This role encompasses driving commercial Class B trucks including box trucks, vacuum trailers, roll-off trailers, van trailers, and high-powered vacuum loaders to pick up hazardous waste materials from medical facilities such as laboratories, clinics, and hospitals. Safety is the foremost priority, with adherence to all local, state, provincial, and federal regulations, including strict compliance with DOT requirements and company safety protocols. The position starts early at 5 AM with extended hours ranging between 10 to 14 hours per day, reflecting the intensive nature of the job, which also includes significant amounts of general labor and overtime.

Candidates must hold a valid Class B CDL with hazmat and passenger endorsements, and be willing to obtain a Hepatitis B vaccination if they do not already have it. Training is comprehensive, including a mandatory two-week out-of-state academy that is company paid. Drivers will be engaged not only in vehicle operation but also in assisting field laborers, loading and unloading trucks, maintaining daily logs and reports, and ensuring all vehicles are properly placarded to meet regulatory standards. The job demands a physical and team-oriented approach, often involving manual labor and working in environments requiring strict health and safety observances related to hazardous materials.

Clean Harbors offers a competitive pay scale starting at $26 per hour plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance after 30 days, 401K with company match, employee stock purchase plans, company paid training, and tuition reimbursement. The company fosters growth and development opportunities at all career stages, promotes a safe workplace culture, and is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing access and reasonable accommodations.
