Airgas is currently seeking a CDL A or B Driver for its San Diego, California location, offering a union position with competitive hourly wages ($31.80/hr for CDL A and $30.44/hr for CDL B license holders). The work schedule is Monday to Friday, including occasional weekends, averaging 40-45 hours per week with minimal overtime, ideal for those seeking a balanced work-life harmony. In this role, the driver is a key representative of Airgas, tasked with the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders and supplies to various local and regional business customers. The position involves loading, unloading, and the physical handling of gas cylinders, emphasizing a hands-on, active work environment. Drivers will frequently move in and out of their vehicles, making the role physically engaging and vital for customer satisfaction. Pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections are required to maintain safety standards. Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B CDL license with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements
  • Current HAZMAT endorsement required
  • Maintain medical card and appropriate endorsements
  • Acceptable driving record with no more than two traffic convictions or at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
  • No driving under the influence in the last 7 years
  • Ability to work drug-free
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs regularly and move over 125 lbs with equipment
  • Minimum 1 year CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or certificate of trucking school completion within 12 months
  • Forklift experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements
  • Hazmat endorsement is required
  • Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card and endorsements
  • No more than two traffic convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last 3 years or a combination of one traffic conviction and one at-fault accident in the last 3 years
  • No driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances within the last seven years
  • Able to work in a drug-free environment
  • Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with material handling equipment
  • Minimum 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or recent proof of trucking school completion
  • Forklift experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
  • nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
  • support deliveries in a timely manner
  • safely secure and unsecure cylinders
  • complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart
  • frequently move in and out of the vehicle to perform duties
