Job Description

The hiring establishment is a company specializing in the transportation and delivery of materials using heavy-duty vehicles and truck-trailer combinations. This company is focused on providing professional and reliable delivery services to various customer sites, ensuring adherence to driver safety and compliance regulations. Known for its commitment to timely deliveries and customer service, the company places a high emphasis on vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, and proper handling of goods. Employees are expected to act as customer service liaisons and uphold the company’s standards of care and professionalism in all aspects of their roles.

This role is for a professional driver responsible for operating vehicles weighing over 26,000 pounds and potentially towing trailers weighing more than 10,000 pounds to transport and deliver materials securely to customer locations. The driver plays a critical role in the company’s supply chain by ensuring materials are delivered on schedule and without damage. Duties include loading assistance, securing cargo, verifying order accuracy, and maintaining detailed records of deliveries, mileage, and load weights. A significant part of the position involves providing exceptional customer service, helping customers unload safely, addressing any delivery concerns, and maintaining positive working relationships.

The driver must maintain and clean their delivery vehicle, conduct routine safety checks, and ensure compliance with company guidelines including hours-of-service (HOS) regulations and driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR). The use of handheld devices is required for logging and compliance purposes, adding a technological element to the safety and operational responsibilities. Additionally, the driver may operate forklifts or other material handling equipment to facilitate loading and unloading procedures at distribution sites.

Safety is paramount, with the expectation to strictly observe all safety procedures and participate in regular safety meetings. The job demands physical endurance with regular lifting of heavy items up to 100 pounds, navigating various environmental conditions like noise and temperature variations, and performing tasks requiring climbing, kneeling, and operating vehicle controls efficiently. The role requires a high-school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL license, and relevant commercial driving experience, with a strong preference for drivers who bring at least two years of CDL experience.

This position offers an essential opportunity for individuals who thrive in dynamic, physical work environments and enjoy the responsibility of ensuring critical deliveries reach customers on time. The employment type is likely full-time, with a competitive salary commensurate with industry standards and driving experience. This role is ideal for seasoned drivers dedicated to safety, accuracy, and providing excellent customer service in the transportation industry.
