Known for its commitment to excellence, safety, and customer service, FedEx Freight operates a vast network that connects businesses and consumers with reliable freight services. The company is affiliated with the FedEx brand, one of the most trusted names in the logistics and courier industry worldwide. FedEx Freight offers comprehensive freight services, including expedited and standard shipping, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of operational efficiency and safety compliance. They emphasize employee development, safety, and innovation to ensure superior service quality and customer satisfaction.

This full-time position as a Tractor-Trailer Operator at FedEx Freight is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a career in freight transportation and logistics. The role is designed to develop proficiency in operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, through comprehensive education and skills training. It involves both driving and non-driving responsibilities, such as forklift operation and dock work, providing a diverse work experience in freight handling and transportation logistics.

The operator will perform essential functions such as conducting pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections, hooking and unhooking trailers, and handling freight using various motorized and manual equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. The position requires securing freight inside trailers properly to prevent damage during transport and occasionally repairing damaged freight if necessary. It also involves verifying and completing required documentation, maintaining freight charge records, and complying with hazardous material regulations as applicable.

Communication is a vital part of this role, requiring the operator to coordinate with dispatch regarding any delays, equipment issues, or other events, as well as to communicate with customers to understand their pick-up or delivery needs. Additionally, operators are encouraged to contribute to business growth by identifying and reporting potential sales leads during their routes.

Working conditions include driving in various weather conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and diesel fumes, and handling hazardous materials in compliance with DOT regulations. The role demands physical endurance, including the ability to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds and performing tasks that require bending, twisting, climbing, and sitting for extended periods.

The advertised hourly pay for this role ranges from $26.84 to $31.97, depending on factors like experience, performance, and job assignment. FedEx Freight also provides a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including health, vision, dental, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, employee assistance programs, paid personal and sick time, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, bonus potential, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, paid bereavement, employee discounts, vacation accrual based on service time, and paid holidays.

Joining FedEx Freight means becoming part of a dynamic team where safety, professionalism, and customer service are paramount. For those interested in pursuing a rewarding and stable career in freight transportation, this position offers substantial growth opportunities and the chance to work with one of the most respected companies in the industry.
