The Delivery Driver role at Fortune Fish & Gourmet is a pivotal position that supports the company’s mission by ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality delivery of perishable products to customers. This full-time role demands a dependable, detail-oriented professional who can serve as the key point of contact for customers while upholding the company’s high standards for safety, product handling, and customer service. Accountable for the safe operation of company vehicles, the driver must rigorously follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules as well as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations to maintain product integrity and safety throughout the delivery process.

In this role, the driver performs a variety of essential tasks, including conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections, verifying delivery details with customers, securing payment transactions, and maintaining detailed delivery records. Physical aspects of the job include loading and unloading heavy products, often in challenging conditions that require strength, endurance, and attention to mental and visual cues. As a frontline representative, the driver directly contributes to customer satisfaction by demonstrating professionalism and responsiveness to client needs. The role also involves close collaboration with the Fleet Manager to ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are followed and safety standards are consistently met.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Valid standard Class D WI license or local state equivalent
  • Ability to work long shifts and Saturdays
  • Basic English speaking proficiency
  • Friendly, outgoing and courteous customer service demeanor
  • Ability to meet physical demands including prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds regularly and occasionally more
  • Must pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of commercial driving experience a plus
  • Experience in transportation of temperature-controlled products preferred
  • Friendly, outgoing and courteous customer service demeanor
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines
  • Valid standard Class D WI license or local state equivalent
  • Basic English speaking proficiency

Job Duties

  • Perform all pre-trip responsibilities to include checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries
  • Perform necessary vehicle safety inspections for vehicle
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route
  • Ensure vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs
  • Load and unload products from vehicle using dolly or other appropriate devices safely
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of product
  • Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the work day
  • Perform all post-delivery actions including unloading damaged product, customer returns, and complete any necessary documents
  • Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during the operation of the truck and handling of product
  • Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and by demonstrating an interest in the customer’s needs
  • Report any complaints to supervisor
  • Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices
  • Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured
  • Ensure that safety training is current as per company policy
  • Support the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
