Job Requirements

  • None for education
  • one year of experience performing unskilled labor work
  • valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • must obtain valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with endorsements within six months of employment and keep it current
  • ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and environments with dust and fumes
  • proficiency in English for communication and documentation
  • physical capability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor
  • compliance with city requirements including maintaining licenses and certifications

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience performing unskilled labor work
  • valid Driver's License at time of application

  • ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • knowledge of Denver streets and alleys with map use
  • ability to assist with minor repairs and operate light equipment
  • proficiency in English to converse, understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports

Job Duties

  • Lifts and empties heavy solid waste containers into disposal trucks
  • operates hydraulic compaction units on city trash collection vehicles
  • washes trucks as needed
  • performs unskilled, light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects
  • assists skilled trade workers with minor building repairs including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks
  • performs minor repairs on gardening and grounds equipment, vehicles, and machinery
  • operates light equipment powered by small engines for maintenance and construction
  • conducts pre-trip inspections on equipment
  • places and removes barricades, cones, and other traffic control safety devices
  • performs exterior maintenance duties such as pruning, raking, watering, litter picking, and clearing dumpster areas
  • utilizes hand-operated construction tools like jackhammers and metal detectors
  • performs seasonal duties including salting, sanding, and snow removal
  • performs other related duties as assigned
