Job Requirements

  • ability to perform vehicle inspections including physically checking equipment and safety systems
  • ability to participate in ride alongs for extended periods and observe drivers in real-time driving conditions
  • primarily based at the company’s facility with out of state travel required for ride-a-longs and inspections at various locations

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in DOT compliance transportation safety and conducting training
  • prior industrial experience preferred
  • a current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record no prior DWI/DUI
  • strong understanding of DOT regulations FMCSA HOS vehicle inspection standards driver safety protocols and accident investigation procedures
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with drivers management and regulatory agencies
  • ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on compliance standards and safety priorities

Job Duties

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to all department of transportation regulations including hours of service vehicle inspections and driver qualifications
  • ensure that the company maintains proper documentation for DOT compliance including driver logs vehicle maintenance records and inspection reports
  • perform level 1 and level 2 DOT inspections on vehicles including driver logs vehicle maintenance and safety equipment
  • conduct on-site inspections to ensure vehicles are in compliance with DOT safety standards and recommend necessary corrective actions
  • conduct regular ride-a-longs with drivers to monitor compliance with safety regulations identify potential safety issues and provide feedback on driving practices
  • develop and implement training programs to educate drivers on DOT regulations safe driving practices and company policies
  • investigate accidents involving company drivers to identify root causes recommend corrective actions and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
