The company fosters a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to industry standards, ensuring the highest levels of service quality and workplace safety. QCD values its workforce and invests in tools, training, and best practices that enhance operational success and employee wellbeing.

The role of DOT Safety & Compliance Specialist - EHS Trainer at QCD plays a vital part in maintaining the company’s safety standards and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. This position is essential for monitoring driver behavior, coordinating safety programs, maintaining records, and ensuring that the company adheres to federal and state safety guidelines. The Safety & Compliance Specialist will conduct daily Samsara system reviews to monitor driving behavior and incident compliance, maintain driver files, and use JJ Keller systems for compliance assurance. Additionally, the specialist will assist with new hire safety orientations, coordinate monthly safety meetings, and document injury and accident investigations with platforms like Intelex and Helmsman.

Employees in this role will conduct Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) assessments and support corrective actions following International Food Standard (IFS) protocols. The specialist will manage contractor safety orientations, ensuring site access only after proper documentation and training. Responsibilities also include coordinating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certifications to guarantee operational safety.

This full-time role typically involves five 8-hour shifts primarily Monday through Friday, but flexibility is required as some shifts may include weekends and nights depending on business needs. The role demands a proactive and detail-oriented individual skilled in safety culture initiatives and compliance inspections. The DOT Safety & Compliance Specialist will also be involved in fire extinguisher and first aid checks, sanitation record completion, pest control record reviews, and participation in monthly DOT and EHS informational calls.

The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of professional experience in transportation or food distribution with a focus on driver interaction and administrative duties. Prior dispatch experience and familiarity with routing add to candidate qualifications. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, safety policies, Samsara systems, and driver management is crucial to success in this role. Effective communication, problem solving, project management, and supervisory skills are also key. The candidate must be comfortable supporting a diverse workforce, preparing technical reports, and working flexible hours including overnight, weekends, and holidays. The role occasionally requires limited travel by airplane and automobile.
