Recognized as top-ranked in more specialties than any other care provider according to U.S. News & World Report, Mayo Clinic delivers comprehensive and high-quality health services to patients across multiple locations. These include major campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; Rochester, Minnesota; as well as various Mayo Clinic Health System campuses spread throughout Midwestern communities and international sites. Known for patient-centered care, Mayo Clinic also prioritizes the wellbeing and professional growth of its employees. The organization offers competitive salaries, extensive benefits packages, and ample opportunities for continuing education and career advancement, making it an attractive place to build a long-term career in healthcare.
The Door Attendant role at Mayo Clinic is a crucial position focused on ensuring a positive and supportive experience for patients and visitors from the moment they arrive. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist patients and guests in transit to and from cars, courtesy vans, shuttle buses, or taxis. Door Attendants serve as the welcoming faces outside Mayo Clinic facilities, offering directions, mobility assistance, and answering questions to help visitors navigate the campus with ease and confidence. This role demands excellent customer service skills, strong communication abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient and guest interactions.
In addition to welcoming and assisting visitors, Door Attendants help maintain patient loading zones by keeping these areas clear and ensuring orderly transport logistics. They also help transport patients, their personal belongings, and selected medical devices between different locations. Monitoring and coordinating taxi cabs and courtesy vehicles for daily patient and visitor pickups are also integral components of the role. Door Attendants support valet operations and are responsible for sanitizing any equipment used to assist patients, promoting a safe and hygienic environment.
Safety is a critical focus in this role; therefore, Door Attendants assist with traffic control in drive-up lanes, ensuring the protection of all patients, guests, and staff moving through busy areas. An important part of the job includes wheelchair recovery, which involves retrieving wheelchairs from various locations such as hospital floors, clinic floors, hotels, and other on- and off-campus areas to ensure they are readily available for use.
This role is part-time with a work schedule that may include varying days, evenings, holidays, and weekends. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $26.44, reflecting the importance of the duties performed and the valuable contribution to patient care. The Door Attendant at Mayo Clinic is expected to demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of a large, multi-location medical operation. Working at Mayo Clinic means being part of an esteemed healthcare organization that puts patients first while fostering a supportive and enriching workplace for its employees.
