Job Description
This position is offered at a transportation and logistics company located at 21 Parker Dr, Avon, MA 02322. The company is dedicated to providing excellent delivery and backhaul services while adhering to government regulations and emphasizing safety and security. Operating Monday through Friday with early morning shifts starting at 2:00 a.m. and lasting approximately 10 hours, the role also requires participation in a rotating Saturday schedule alongside the Lead Driver. This commitment to consistent, reliable scheduling ensures that transportation operations run smoothly and efficiently day after day.
The role of Transportation Supervisor is integral in supporting the transportation manager or director by overseeing and supervising daily activities related to delivery and backhauls. This includes training, mentoring, and managing transportation department associates to maintain high standards of service, safety, and compliance. The supervisor ensures that all associates adhere to company protocols, government regulations such as DOT and OSHA, and food safety standards, guaranteeing safe and efficient transportation services. They are responsible for maintaining accurate electronic logs and monitoring labor hours and supply budgets, highlighting the role’s importance in operational cost control and resource management.
Beyond administrative and supervisory responsibilities, this position plays a key role in the continuous improvement of delivery functions by reviewing productivity reports, suggesting efficiency upgrades, helping implement changes, and coordinating asset utilization and repairs. The Transportation Supervisor also fosters positive communication and associate relations through regular meetings and open channels for feedback, promoting a productive work environment. Interaction with customer service and warehouse teams is emphasized to collaboratively resolve any delivery issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.
In addition, this supervisory role encompasses essential management functions such as staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and when necessary, terminations. Working closely with the safety manager, the Transportation Supervisor contributes to safety training, performs accident investigations, conducts routine safety inspections, and makes recommendations for corrective actions to uphold the department’s safety standards. The ability to work outside of normal schedules when necessary, fulfill the duties of associates under supervision, and engage effectively in a deadline-driven environment completes the comprehensive scope of this role.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years transportation experience and/or training
- Class A or Class B commercial driver's license
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to learn new technology software
- Ability to write reports and present information
- English proficiency
- Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting and walking
- Willingness to work early morning shifts and rotating Saturdays

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent degree
- 2 or 4-year college degree in business management, supply chain management or related field preferred
- 2-4 years of transportation experience and/or training
- Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License required
- Certificate of DOT regulations training preferred
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT rules
- Skilled in spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to make independent decisions

Job Duties
- Supervises daily work and safety of transportation associates
