Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in Asian dining experiences, proudly operating as part of the Panda Restaurant Group, which also includes Panda Inn and Hibachi-San. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown into the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,400 locations globally and an expansion rate of over 100 new restaurants annually, Panda Express has firmly established itself as America’s favorite Chinese restaurant. The company prides itself on fostering a family-oriented workplace culture where every team member is encouraged to grow personally and professionally. Recognized as one of "America's Best Employers," certified as a Great Place to Work, and acknowledged as the safest restaurant chain in the US during the recent pandemic, Panda Express upholds high standards of excellence and safety across all its sites.

Joining Panda Express as a General Manager provides an exceptional opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial spirit within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The General Manager is entrusted with overseeing a $1-2 million business, managing and developing a team, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining profitability. Candidates in this role will be accountable for hiring, directing, and mentoring associates while also driving financial success and delivering an outstanding guest experience. Panda Express values leaders who take ownership of their restaurants and create their own success stories through dedication and strategic management.

To ensure every leader is primed for success, Panda Express offers a comprehensive Store Leadership Training Program lasting over six weeks. This program covers critical leadership competencies including people development, guest experience excellence, financial management, kitchen operations, and overall store operations. Leaders learn how to hire and coach talent effectively, uphold the highest standards in food quality and customer service, skillfully analyze sales and costs, maintain strict food safety and inventory protocols, and ensure store cleanliness and compliance with all company policies. This extensive training serves as a solid foundation to help managers become inspiring, high-performing leaders who contribute to Panda Express' ongoing growth and guest satisfaction.

The company offers a full-time management team a competitive compensation package starting at $75,000 annually for General Managers, with the potential to exceed $100,000 through bonuses. Assistant Managers start at $58,000 per year with bonus potential as well. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, associate discounts on Panda Express, Hibachi San, Panda Inn, and theme parks, free meals during work shifts, a lucrative associate referral bonus, and a pre-tax dependent care flexible spending account. This robust benefits portfolio reflects Panda Express’ commitment to rewarding and supporting its team members.

For individuals passionate about leadership, operations, and delivering exceptional dining experiences, Panda Express offers a unique career pathway in one of America’s favorite food brands. As a General Manager, candidates will build a career in an environment that encourages entrepreneurial thinking, continuous development, and a genuine family atmosphere. Working at Panda Express means being part of a globally recognized organization dedicated to uplifting its employees and the communities it serves, making it an excellent career choice for those ready to lead with passion and purpose.
