Job Description
Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle's Southport is a prestigious hotel situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Washington in Renton, Washington. Renowned for its exceptional service and scenic location, the hotel has earned accolades such as the AAA Four Diamond Award and the Best of Housekeeping award. This establishment perfectly combines the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest with state-of-the-art modern amenities, providing guests a memorable and comfortable stay. Its prime location offers easy access to key attractions including Sea-Tac International Airport, downtown Seattle and Bellevue, Mount Rainier National Park, and Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, making it an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers.
At Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, the commitment to guest satisfaction is reflected in the high standards upheld by its hardworking and attentive staff. The company's philosophy centers on delivering authentic hospitality and unique experiences that go beyond mere expectations. This creates a supportive and rewarding work environment where associates can grow personally and professionally while engaging with customers from around the world.
The role of Food Truck Cook at Hyatt Regency Lake Washington is an entry-level culinary position designed for individuals eager to develop their cooking skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This seasonal position, based at the hotel's outdoor venue Dock & Drink, operates from May through October 2026, exposing the candidate to outdoor work conditions under a covered kitchen area. The Food Truck Cook will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards within the food truck and prep kitchen.
Ideal candidates should possess basic culinary knowledge, good communication skills, and some experience working in higher volume or fast-paced kitchens. The role requires moderate supervision and training, making it suitable for aspiring cooks seeking to expand their practical knowledge in a supportive environment. Being physically capable to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive duties is important due to the nature of the outdoor setup and operational demands.
In this role, the Food Truck Cook will have the opportunity to work alongside senior cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure that food is prepared and presented consistently with Hyatt’s quality standards. Key responsibilities include ingredient preparation, cooking items to order, maintaining sanitary conditions, handling kitchen equipment safely, organizing inventory, and adhering to all health and safety regulations. This position not only provides hands-on culinary experience but also enables candidates to grow within a globally recognized brand known for career development and internal mobility.
The compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 to $30.55 per hour, with the starting rate at $23.00. The final wage offered will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and education. This role offers applicants the chance to join Hyatt’s vibrant team during a key seasonal period, contributing to guest satisfaction and overall operational success. Hyatt values inclusivity and equal employment opportunities, welcoming candidates of diverse backgrounds to apply, and ensuring fair consideration without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. Joining Hyatt means becoming part of a respected organization with outstanding benefits, professional growth, and a focus on excellence in hospitality.
