Job Requirements
- Culinary arts degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in high-volume food production or culinary leadership
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
- ServSafe Allergen Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
- Proficiency with commercial kitchen equipment and scratch cooking methods
- Effective communication skills
- Basic computer literacy including Google Suite and email
- Ability to lift 40-50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, bend, push, and pull for extended periods
- Regular exposure to heat, cold, steam, and commercial kitchen environments
Job Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years experience in food production or culinary leadership in a high-volume environment
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
- ServSafe Allergen Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
- Proficiency with kitchen equipment, knife skills, and scratch cooking techniques
- Effective communication and basic computer literacy including Google Suite and digital recipe platforms
- Prior experience in school nutrition, CACFP, or institutional foodservice preferred
- Familiarity with USDA school meal programs and nutritional guidelines preferred
- Experience with catering and event preparation preferred
Job Duties
- Oversee the preparation of high-quality scratch and speed-scratch foods across all schools, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation
- Provide guidance on the proper use and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment
- Work closely with cook managers to ensure each kitchen follows standardized recipes, production protocols, and food portioning procedures
- Monitor daily food production and provide support, coaching, and troubleshooting to maintain nutrition integrity, efficiency, and USDA compliance
- Collaborate on menu planning and test recipes aligning with USDA meal patterns and student preferences
- Enforce rigorous food safety standards aligned with HACCP protocols and health codes
- Serve as a culinary mentor, providing on-the-job training in knife skills, cooking techniques, and food safety
- Support accurate ordering and receiving processes
- Utilize digital tools for production planning, inventory, and recipe management
- Lead preparation and service for catered events and district functions
- Communicate effectively with kitchen managers, school staff, and administration
- Participate in professional development and team meetings
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of School Nutrition
