The role of District Shift Leader at Einstein Bros. Bagels is an exciting opportunity designed for those eager to grow into a leadership position within the company, specifically aiming toward becoming a General Manager. This position is integral to the day-to-day success of the bakery locations, including one’s home store and others in the market as needed. The District Shift Leader acts as a key management figure, stepping in as the acting General Manager in their absence and supporting multiple locations. This leadership role demands early morning shifts starting as early as 3 am for store opening and baking duties, and involves multitasking across different responsibilities to ensure the bakery delivers high-quality food and a safe, clean environment for guests. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, brand representation, continuous coaching, and staff development.
Once recruited, District Shift Leaders undergo a targeted General Manager development plan to acquire the necessary skills in administration, inventory, vendor relationships, cash handling, and operational efficiency. The plan also covers essential managerial topics like profit and loss analysis, cost control, scheduling, recruitment, and team leadership. This comprehensive training prepares leaders to eventually take full ownership of a bakery as a General Manager when positions become available. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work early morning shifts starting as early as 3 am
- Availability to work varied hours and days including weekends
- Willingness to accept permanent General Manager promotion when available
- Must pass background check
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license
- Complete Bagel Brands ServSafe Certification program if not already certified
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience preferred
- Ability to work varied hours and days including early mornings and weekends
- Completion of Bagel Brands ServSafe Certification program by end of GM development plan if not already certified
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check
Job Duties
- Fill in for General Managers at other locations within the market as needed
- Support multiple bakery locations in the market with management duties
- Lead early morning shifts beginning as early as 3 am for baking and store opening
- Provide ongoing coaching and training to team members
- Serve as a brand ambassador and lead by example
- Ensure high-quality food and beverage standards are met
- Maintain a safe and clean store environment
