The District Service Manager role is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing and coordinating third-party maintenance providers across several states, including Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. This position demands frequent travel, approximately 50-75%, to ensure supplier compliance with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical oversight, vendor relationship development, and excellent customer service skills.
In this role, the District Service Manager will develop, support, enforce, and monitor service provider policies and company objectives. They will maintain compliance standards by inspecting facilities and suppliers regularly, developing supplier scorecards and measurement criteria to track performance and satisfaction. Working closely with facility supervisors, the manager conducts reviews and crafts contingency plans to sustain compliance and operational effectiveness.
Furthermore, this position requires supervising staff, managing schedules to optimize equipment and driver utilization, and maintaining professional standards through ongoing training. The role involves managing preventative maintenance (PM) programs, defining yearly throughput goals for suppliers, conducting asset inspections, and performing customer satisfaction surveys to evaluate and improve supplier performance. The manager will also participate in budgeting processes for their area and provide timely updates on budget adjustments and supplier key performance indicators.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training
- 1 to 5 years of management experience
- Willingness to travel 50 to 75 percent
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job including lifting up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work in shop and outside weather environments
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance regulations
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Additional education in specialized fields such as vocational trade school or two-year college preferred
- 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training
- 1 to 5 years of previous management experience
- Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to develop and maintain vendor relationships
- Mechanical knowledge and experience
- Ability to travel extensively
- Proficient in performance measurement and budget preparation
Job Duties
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance requirements for third-party providers
- Ensure compliance with Federal DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations by regularly inspecting and documenting supplier compliance
- Develop and enforce supplier standards and score cards to assess performance
- Review inspection results with facility supervisors and develop contingency plans
- Manage employee performance through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions
- Coordinate work schedules to ensure equipment and driver utilization
- Maintain preventative maintenance programs and establish location-specific goals
- Conduct asset inspections and customer satisfaction surveys
- Prepare and submit budget proposals and adjustments
- Develop and track key supplier performance measurements
