Job Requirements
- 2-5 years related service dispatch experience
- ability to multitask while remaining detail oriented
- expert knowledge of principles and methods for dispatching personnel and equipment
- expert knowledge of local thoroughfares, routes and surrounding areas
- proficient communication and organizational skills essential
- ability to type 65-70 wpm accurately and take dictation
- professional level position, incumbent receives minimal guidance and supervision
- union labor relations basic principles
- knowledge of microsoft word, excel, outlook
- proficient in business writing and verbal communication
- valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required when duties require use of motor vehicle
- ability to pass pre-employment and random screening for illegal substances
- knowledge and accuracy in arithmetic

Job Duties
- Receive or prepare work orders
- confer with customers or supervising personnel to address service or equipment questions, problems, and requests
- determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required
- schedule and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations
- order supplies and equipment and issue them to personnel
- arrange for necessary repairs to restore service and schedules
- relay work orders, messages, and information between work crews, supervisors, and field personnel
- advise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards
- prepare daily work and run schedules
- maintain files or records of customer requests
- perform other duties as assigned by divisional leadership or senior dispatcher
