Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current or willingness to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification within three years
- Certified Flight Communicator certification obtained within one year of hire
- Minimum two years of relevant dispatching experience preferred
- Ability to multitask effectively in stressful situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible rotating 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
- Proficient typing and computer skills
- Ability to wear a telephone headset for extended periods
- Strong alertness and stress management abilities
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good organizational skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification as Ohio EMT desired
- Certification as Emergency Medical Dispatcher (IAED EMD) desired or to be obtained within three years of hire
- Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) certification required within one year of hire and must be maintained
- Minimum two years of EMS, law enforcement, or critical care dispatching experience preferred
- Experience in Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) or Fixed Wing Ambulance dispatching preferred
- Experience as MedComm Transport Coordinator or Hospital Facilitator preferred
- Successful completion of MedComm orientation program
- Ability to operate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), emergency communications phone, radio systems, and critical communication platforms
- Proficient typing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to negotiate effectively
- Ability to work independently and in high-stress environments
Job Duties
- Receive, process, and dispatch calls for emergent and non-emergency medical transportation
- Assign the most appropriate air and ground transport units promptly
- Coordinate mission details among requesting personnel, aviation staff, transport crews, and leadership
- Monitor the location and status of all transport units continuously
- Collect and maintain accurate pre- and post-transport patient and mission documentation
- Initiate and follow Post Accident Incident Plan procedures when necessary
- Ensure safety remains the top priority in all dispatch operations
