Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate
  • Minimum two years of related dispatch experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of flight planning software preferred
  • Ability to comply with federal aviation regulations
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds and frequently 10 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate required
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aeronautical charts, aviation weather, aircraft performance and flight planning
  • Minimum two years of dispatch experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work unsupervised
  • Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Sabre or Jeppesen Flight Planning preferred
  • Experience with Flight Explorer Aircraft Situation Display preferred
  • Experience with Arinc SELCAL system preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares dispatch release as a contract between pilot-in-command and dispatcher for each flight
  • Plans flights considering enroute winds and weather balancing safety and economy
  • Determines minimum fuel supply necessary including alternate airports
  • Calculates aircraft performance and monitors weather conditions
  • Provides preflight briefing including aircraft and flight status and up-to-date weather reports
  • Monitors flight progress issuing necessary safety information
  • Cancels or re-dispatches flights if safety cannot be ensured
  • Recommends flight plan alternatives and coordinates aircraft diversions and recoveries
  • Negotiates with air traffic control for alternate routings and delay reductions
  • Initiates company emergency notification and coordinates company charter operations
  • Updates knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, company manuals, and aeronautical charts
  • Provides operations support to maintenance and system operations control
  • Archives dispatch releases and flight plans
  • Performs other duties as assigned
