The Utility Associate role at HMSHost is vital in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and smooth operation of the food and beverage service areas. Starting at $11.50 per hour, this non-exempt position involves responsibilities such as cleaning equipment, utensils, workstations, and floors using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards. The Utility Associate ensures that all kitchen tools and surfaces are sanitized, trash is properly disposed of, and supply trucks are efficiently loaded and unloaded. This role also includes monitoring and replenishing supplies like ice levels, keg beers, Co2 containers, and bib sodas. HMSHost values safety and security, and the Utility Associate adheres to all established procedures while frequently immersing hands in water and chemical solutions, showcasing the physical nature of the job. The position calls for individuals who are able to bend, twist, stand, and lift/move up to 40 pounds regularly. Job Requirements

  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
  • Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar utility or janitorial role is advantageous
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of safety and hygiene practices

Job Duties

  • Clean equipment which may include work tables, refrigerators, meat blocks and other equipment
  • Clean utensils, pots and pans by washing them by hand or placing them in a dishwashing machine
  • Return clean utensils, pots and pans to their proper places
  • Remove trash and garbage to designated areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub and buff floors using heavy equipment
  • Clean walls, windows and steam clean trashcans
  • Stock, date, rotate and check temperature of products
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or hand truck
  • Load and unload supply trucks
  • Follow all security and safety procedures established by the company
