Job Description
Watermark Baton Rouge Hotel is a distinguished hotel located in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Part of Marriott’s prestigious Autograph Collection, this hotel is steeped in history and renowned for its unique architectural blend of Art Deco and Greek Revival styles. Originally built in 1927 as Baton Rouge's first skyscraper, the building served as the headquarters for Louisiana Trust & Savings Bank and later as the Old Louisiana National Bank building. The hotel is celebrated for its preserved murals by renowned New Orleans artist Angela Gregory, carved marble walls, and a grand staircase leading to original bank vaults, all of which contribute to its historic charm and elegance. Located overlooking the Mississippi River, the Watermark Baton Rouge Hotel offers stunning views and a compelling tribute to the city’s heritage with a blend of 1920s through 1960s design elements infused with modern touches. They are currently seeking a full-time Steward to join their Food and Beverage team, reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Manager. This role is vital in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hotel's dining and dishwashing areas. The Steward is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and drying china, glassware, silverware, and other equipment returned from servers and other employees. The position demands physical endurance and the ability to perform heavy labor, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and standing for the entire shift.
The Steward will also ensure that all tables remain clean and presentable, equipped with clean china, glassware, silverware, and linens at all times. Additional duties may include maintaining dishwashing stations, operating washing machines, organizing trays, scrubbing trash cans, cleaning vents, removing gum, detailed cleaning of chairs, ice bin cleaning, replacing light bulbs, setting up sanitizers, cleaning floor sweepers, and managing trash disposal. This role requires a reliable individual with a friendly, service-oriented attitude who maintains a professional appearance and wears the proper uniform and name tag during work hours.
