Reporting to the Steward Assistant, Executive Steward, Chef De Cuisine, and Sous Chef, the steward works collaboratively to ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly, safely, and effectively. This role requires a high level of physical activity, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards. The steward is responsible for cleaning dishes, pots, kitchen equipment, and workstations, as well as monitoring inventory supplies and supporting safety protocols. Key responsibilities also include training kitchen staff on chemical usage and safety measures along with maintaining compliance with health department standards. This position plays a crucial role in creating a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, which is essential for the delivery of high-quality food services and the overall guest experience at Boyd Gaming properties.

Job Requirements

high school diploma or equivalent preferred
must have at least one year of kitchen cleaning experience
must be flexible to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely
familiarity with kitchen cleaning equipment
must be able to pass Serve Safe training
valid driver’s license and gaming license as required
successful completion of background check
successful completion of alcohol and drug screening
minimum age requirement of 18 years
excellent communication and team collaboration skills

Job Qualifications

one year kitchen cleaning experience
flexible to work any day, any shift
familiar with handling cleaning chemicals and compounds
familiar with cleaning all types of kitchen equipment
ability to successfully complete Serve Safe training
possession of valid driver’s and gaming license or ability to obtain and maintain them
must pass background check
must pass alcohol and drug screening
must be 18 years of age
delivers superior internal and external guest service

Job Duties

maintain sanitation levels
perform physical activities including standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead
comprehend product labeling for safe chemical application
maintain inventory of necessary supplies
ensure cleanliness of floors, walls, dishes, and pots
use wet floor signs and other safety markers
ensure kitchen workers have proper equipment such as gloves and goggles
make sure all equipment functions properly
conduct oneself professionally
assist in safety training for kitchen staff
train personnel on proper chemical usage and safety
maintain cleanliness and safety standards as set by health authorities
handle and move goods weighing up to 50 lbs
