Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Some prior kitchen experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of food handling and safety practices
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, standing for long periods
  • Good physical and emotional health
  • Willingness to undergo background, criminal, and drug tests
  • Ability to work extended hours up to 16 hours
  • Comfortable with exposure to infectious materials and working with residents who may be emotionally upset

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred or GED accepted
  • Some kitchen experience desirable
  • Basic knife skills required
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, lift up to 40-50 pounds, and stand for extended periods
  • Excellent communication skills

Job Duties

  • Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time in appropriate work attire
  • Responsible for proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature
  • Maintain the kitchen and assigned areas in a sanitary condition
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with kitchen personnel and residents
  • Be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations
  • Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
  • Assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and stocking shelves as needed
