This role focuses on dishwashing and general housekeeping duties within the Culinary Department of Intermountain Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all kitchen and dining areas comply with hospital, Health Department, and Joint Commission safety and sanitary standards. This includes cleaning and sanitizing dishes, handling patient tray carts collected from hospital floors, disinfecting dining areas, and properly using cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA and Joint Commission guidelines. The position is a PRN (pro re nata) role, meaning there are no guaranteed hours, and the candidate will be scheduled to work 2-3 shifts weekly, primarily during the evening from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Weekend availability will be required as needed.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, follow written and verbal instructions carefully, and display proficiency with housekeeping equipment and dish machines. The hourly pay rate ranges from $17.00 to $21.75, dependent on experience. Due to the nature of the role, the candidate should be comfortable working around water and common dishwashing chemicals and possess a strong attention to detail to maintain a clean and safe environment that supports patient and staff well-being. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in dishwashing or housekeeping preferred
  • ability to work flexible evening shifts including weekends
  • ability to handle physical demands such as lifting, standing for long periods, and working with cleaning chemicals
  • good communication skills
  • ability to collaborate with diverse teams
  • legally authorized to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work in Utah and Idaho
  • demonstrates ability to read color coded labels and chemicals and follow written and verbal directions
  • demonstrates ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machines (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
  • uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash
  • operates and maintains assigned equipment such as commercial dishwasher according to established procedures
