Job Description

Indus Hospitality Group is a well-established hospitality company with a mission centered on developing, empowering, and supporting the success of its employees. With a strong foundation built on the values of Growth, Loyalty, Respect, and Flexibility, Indus Hospitality Group sees its workforce not just as employees but as valuable team members with career advancement opportunities. Over the past four decades, Indus Hospitality Group has significantly expanded its presence in the Rochester, Finger Lakes, and Western New York regions. Its portfolio consists of over 70 properties, including hotels and restaurants, demonstrating its commitment to the communities it serves and helping propel regional economic growth through commerce and employment opportunities. The organization has garnered multiple accolades reflecting its excellence in operations, such as the Dunkin' Brands Rising Star of the Year, the Microtel Inn & Suites Franchisee of the Year Award, the Hilton Worldwide Lighthouse Award, Best Western Champion Customer Care Award, and TripAdvisor Awards for Excellence. These awards underscore the group's dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.

The role of Dishwasher/Utility Attendant at Indus Hospitality Group entails ensuring kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment, dishes, and utensils are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Reporting directly to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef, this position plays a crucial role in supporting daily kitchen operations. The Dishwasher/Utility Attendant is responsible for performing opening and closing procedures according to established checklists, carefully scrubbing and washing dishes — whether by hand or by placing them into dishwashing machines — and sanitizing and storing all types of kitchenware, including china, glassware, silverware, and cookware. Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and surrounding areas by cleaning refrigerators, counters, shelves, and other designated spots is a key duty, alongside sweeping and mopping floors to ensure a sanitary environment. Additionally, the Dishwasher/Utility Attendant is tasked with collecting and disposing of trash and assisting in checking the operational status of kitchen fixtures and equipment, including lighting, heating and cooling systems, appliances, and décor elements, reporting any deficiencies promptly.

In this position, candidates may also be asked to assist with basic food handling and preparation as needed. The role requires a consistent and reliable attendance record, punctuality for shifts and meetings, and the ability to follow instructions accurately while adapting to changes and unexpected situations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective collaboration with team members and responding to customer needs when applicable. The work environment typically involves exposure to wet conditions, chemicals, and occasional outdoor weather, with a noise level that is generally moderate. Physically, the role involves lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds regularly, requiring stamina and adherence to safety practices.

Indus Hospitality Group promotes a workplace culture characterized by respect, integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Employees are encouraged to contribute to a positive team spirit and uphold the organization's standards of excellence and ethics. This position offers a competitive hourly wage in the range of $16 to $18, providing a dependable opportunity for those seeking to work in a reputable and award-winning hospitality company. Indus Hospitality Group offers more than just a job — it offers a pathway for growth and development within its expanding hospitality portfolio.
