The Kitchen Porter’s responsibilities include washing dishes and utensils, sanitizing cooking surfaces and equipment, and maintaining supplies such as coffee, tea, and cutlery at all times. Moreover, the role may extend to assisting with simple food preparation tasks, particularly catering for meetings or special events. The position requires a reliable individual with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently within a professional office setting.
The role demands a variety of physical activities, including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds. Candidates must be physically fit and possess good hygiene habits to perform these duties effectively. Candidates will also need to have or be willing to obtain a California Food Handlers Card, complete a pre-employment background check, and undergo a drug screening where applicable. Job Requirements
- Must complete pre-employment background check
- California Food Handlers Card required
- must complete pre-employment drug screen (if applicable)
- physically able to be on feet during entire shift
- able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, pull, push, kneel, and crouch
- capable of lifting up to 35 lbs and carrying 12 lbs backpack vacuum as needed
- must provide proof of work authorization and complete I9 and E-Verify process
Job Qualifications

- experience with cleaning and sanitation tasks preferred but not mandatory
- ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor machines
Job Duties
- Sanitize and clean food prep areas
- wash and sanitize all pots, pans, or other cookware
- empty and clean dishwashers (if applicable)
- wipe down walls and other general equipment, including microwaves, toasters, and coffee makers
- wash and disinfect all prep boards, surfaces, slicers, and utensils
- empty trash cans around the property, replacing trash bags
- clean and disinfect all waste bins and areas after emptying garbage
- sweep and mop kitchen floors and common areas
- removing trash, cleaning floors, dusting/wiping down all surfaces
- operating walk-behind floor cleaning machines (if applicable)
- restocking supplies in, bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas
- maintain janitor closets in a clean and organized
- maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition
- perform End of Shift Inspections (EOS) following company guidelines, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met at the end of each shift
- miscellaneous duties as assigned
