This role is a critical position within the hotel’s kitchen and service operations team. The primary responsibility involves transporting and cleaning cooking utensils and service ware to ensure that cooks, bus persons, and food servers have the appropriate equipment to deliver an exceptional dining experience to guests. The position demands physical stamina and strength due to the high activity level, including sorting soiled ware, operating commercial dish machines, and performing general cleaning duties to maintain health and safety standards in the kitchen and surrounding areas. Meticulous attention to detail is required to keep the dish machines clean and properly filled, and the role includes cleaning large kitchen equipment such as kettles, tilt skillets, pots, and pans to support kitchen efficiency.

In addition, this role supports overall kitchen hygiene by cleaning and drying floors to prevent slip and fall accidents and separating linen from other debris, ensuring a safe and orderly environment. The position involves adhering strictly to company policies, safety, and security procedures, including fire prevention and emergency protocols. Utilizing protective equipment and promptly reporting unsafe conditions or incidents are also essential components of maintaining a secure workplace. Team members in this position are expected to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per company standards. The role also involves assisting other kitchen personnel as needed and performing any additional duties assigned by management, emphasizing a collaborative and flexible work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Previous experience in hospitality or kitchen cleaning preferred
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen dish machine
  • Physical strength and stamina to handle high activity levels
  • Ability to push/pull and lift up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and fire prevention
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain a clean work environment

Job Qualifications

  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain it in order to complement guest experience
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen dish machine in accordance with hotel and health department standards
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel

Job Duties

  • Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly
  • Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage areas as designated
  • Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards
  • Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their work
  • Perform general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards
  • Clean and dry floors to avoid slip/fall accidents
  • Separate linen from other debris
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Follow safety and security procedures and rules
  • Know department fire prevention and emergency procedures
  • Utilize protective equipment
  • Report unsafe conditions to management
  • Report accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to management
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance
  • Perform any related duties as requested by management
  • Assist other kitchen personnel when needed
