As an entry-level Team Member at Whole Foods Market, you will take on the essential role of maintaining cleanliness and supporting kitchen operations to ensure a sanitary and efficient environment. This full-time position demands a strong work ethic and a passion for clean and organized workspaces. The hourly wage range for this role is $17.00 to $25.40, depending on experience. New team members who successfully complete their initial 90 days of employment may be eligible for a base rate increase.
Your primary responsibilities will include washing and sanitizing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves within the kitchen area. You will assist with kitchen deliveries by properly storing, organizing, and rotating products to maximize freshness and efficiency. Timeliness, proper grooming, and readiness to work are crucial as you will be required to attend scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings. Providing excellent customer service by addressing customer needs and working collaboratively with fellow team members are also key components of this role.
This position requires strict adherence to all safety, sanitation, and food safety regulations, including following established procedures related to weights and measures and safe work practices. You will be expected to maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, uphold equipment cleanliness according to company standards, and perform assigned opening, mid, and closing duties accurately. Prompt reporting of any safety hazards or violations is mandatory. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by store, regional, or national leadership as needed.
Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. A passion for natural foods and the company’s mission is highly valued along with the capability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for 6 to 8 hours per shift, and work in various temperature conditions ranging from freezing to high heat. Team Members must also be comfortable using various kitchen tools and equipment and working in both wet and dry environments.

Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- Ability to perform hand use such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Capability to perform physical movements including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work in temperature conditions including freezing, refrigerator, and high heat
- Ability to work in both wet and dry conditions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- May require use of ladders
