The organization is currently seeking a Dishwasher / Culinary Aide to join the Nutrition Services team. This position plays a vital role within the dietary department by maintaining cleanliness and supporting food preparation activities that are essential to resident health and satisfaction. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nutrition and Food Services and the Lead Culinary Cook, the Dishwasher / Culinary Aide manages multiple tasks including operating dishwashing equipment, assisting with tray assembly, preparing desserts and beverages, and ensuring the overall sanitation of the food service area. The candidate will also prepare special activity event menus and have direct contact with residents while serving meals, reinforcing the organization’s mission to blend excellent healthcare with compassionate service.
This role demands knowledge of different dietary requirements, tray line service, infection control standards, and quality improvement processes within a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of portion control, sanitation procedures, serving techniques, and adhere strictly to departmental policies and procedures. Maintaining effective communication with residents, their families, and community staff is crucial to ensure a smooth and respectful meal service experience. Additionally, the Dishwasher / Culinary Aide is responsible for the proper setup and upkeep of the dish machine area, checking equipment temperatures, and ensuring all hygiene standards are met, including managing garbage disposal and sanitation tasks.

Job Duties
- Operate the dish machine and various food service equipment
- Assist with tray line assembly and restorative dining programs
- Food preparation as assigned
- Clean the dish machine area and clean and de-lime dish machine
- Store clean equipment and utensils
- Assist in maintaining preparation and service area in sanitary condition
- Assist in putting away stock
- Set up dietary tray cards
- Deliver food carts to resident meal service location areas
- Empty garbage in dumpster and sanitize garbage cans
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families and community staff
- Must adhere to strict guidelines for serving times
- Must adhere to sanitation control issues as described in policy and procedure manual: CCP (Critical Control Point)
- Set up dish machine area, check temperatures and check soap dispensing levels
- Scrape, pre-wash and stack soiled dishes
