Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, operating a chain of Australian-themed steakhouse restaurants that have been serving customers since 1988. Outback Steakhouse offers a unique dining experience focused on delivering quality food with a fun and friendly atmosphere. The company takes food seriously but does not forget to foster an environment where employees, called "Outbackers," feel valued and respected. The culture at Out West Restaurant Group emphasizes treating people "Just Right," promoting respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among its team members. The organization is committed to the success and growth of every employee, providing comprehensive training programs and numerous growth opportunities within the company.
Out West Restaurant Group is proud of its reputation for excellence, evidenced by its Monitor 200 Award ranking it among the Top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and recognition by the International Franchise Association as the Franchisee of the Year for exemplary community service in 2022. The company actively supports nonprofit organizations that assist its employees and their families through challenging times, highlighting its dedication to the well-being of its team beyond just the workplace.
This specific role is an hourly, non-exempt position with a pay range of $16.90 to $17.00 per hour. It does not qualify for tips but comes with structured benefits designed to support the health, financial stability, and work-life balance of team members. These benefits include comprehensive health insurance—medical, dental, and vision—for employees eligible under the Affordable Care Act measurement rules, paid sick leave compliant with California laws, and a paid day off after 90 days of employment. The position also offers additional perks such as meal discounts, flexible scheduling, a supportive team culture, and opportunities for advancement through programs like the Shift Leader training.
The role is focused on supporting smooth and efficient kitchen operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards in the dishwashing and kitchen preparation areas. This includes managing dishwashing machine operations, restocking kitchen supplies, and keeping floors and workstations clean and safe. The role demands physical endurance, with duties requiring standing for long periods, working in varying temperatures, and performing physically demanding tasks like lifting and bending.
Importantly, this role is suited to individuals who thrive in a fast-paced team environment where cooperation and communication are essential. Teamwork is a core value at Outback Steakhouse, and all employees are expected to support one another and contribute to the overall guest experience. Candidates with prior back-of-house (BOH) experience in full-service restaurants are preferred, and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous.
Out West Restaurant Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to fairness and non-discrimination in all employment decisions. Prospective employees can expect a workplace that respects their rights and complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws and employment eligibility verification requirements. The company fosters a positive and inclusive workplace, with a commitment to employee development and community involvement. Joining Out West Restaurant Group means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to creating memorable dining experiences for guests while supporting each employee's career growth in a fun and hospitable environment.
