Job Description

Sifted is a dynamic culinary company that specializes in providing high-quality, inspired meals for office environments, particularly catering to some of the most innovative startups and Fortune 500 companies across the United States. Founded in 2015 by Jess Legge and Kimberly Lexow, Sifted emerged from their vision to revolutionize the traditional work lunch experience. Understanding the fast-paced nature of modern workplaces, Sifted creates an atmosphere where employees want to linger, share meals, and foster connections over thoughtfully prepared food. Their services extend beyond in-office catering to include virtual team-building experiences, addressing the needs of distributed teams and embracing the evolving future of work.

The company is committed to sustainability, practicing zero food waste in their kitchens by composting scraps and donating leftovers daily. Since the inception of their donation program, Sifted has contributed over three million dollars in lunches to individuals facing food insecurity across six cities. This commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship forms a core part of the company's culture, alongside seven foundational principles that emphasize simplicity, inclusivity, adaptability, and client focus.

Sifted is currently seeking a Dishwasher to join its culinary team based in Seattle. This role is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM, offering a competitive hourly wage of $23. The dishwasher will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the kitchen, which is essential to upholding the company’s high standards of food safety and quality. Working closely with an experienced executive chef, the selected candidate will be part of a fast-paced yet supportive environment, gaining valuable experience in a professional commissary kitchen.

The Dishwasher’s duties include managing dishwashing tasks, receiving and properly storing food shipments, organizing both walk-in and dry storage areas, and assisting with light food preparation when needed. A key responsibility is ensuring all cleaning and closing duties are thoroughly completed, including waste disposal. Effective communication with the chef and kitchen management regarding any operational issues is also vital.

This role is ideal for an individual passionate about working in a kitchen and eager to develop their culinary skills and knowledge. Previous experience in kitchen roles such as line cook, prep/dishwasher, or porter, along with experience in catering and event service, is highly beneficial. Candidates must possess strong communication abilities and physical stamina, including the capacity to bend, twist, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds safely.

Sifted values proactive, dedicated team members who align with their culture of learning and continuous improvement. Employees are offered a comprehensive benefits package featuring company-sponsored health insurance plans, inclusive of a 100 percent company-paid High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and opt-in vision and dental coverage. The company also provides a 401(k) program through Human Interest, 80 hours of paid time off annually with an additional paid winter break from December 24 to January 1, and free lunch during meal service. Sifted is a fast-growing startup that not only supports career growth opportunities but also fosters an environment where team members can contribute meaningfully to the organization’s success and sustainability initiatives.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must maintain a ServSafe Food Handler certification. The work environment is a professional commercial kitchen requiring adherence to food safety protocols and physical ability to perform job functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the culinary field while making a positive impact within an innovative company dedicated to great food, community responsibility, and employee engagement.
