Job Description

Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States. Outback Steakhouse, founded in March 1988, is a renowned Australian-themed casual dining restaurant known for its warm hospitality, unique menu offerings, and commitment to delivering a memorable dining experience. The company prides itself on fostering a fun and dynamic workplace culture where employees, or "Outbackers," feel valued, respected, and provided with opportunities for growth and professional development. The group's mission centers on treating their people and customers "Just Right," emphasizing respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm in every interaction. They have received prestigious recognitions such as the Monitor 200 Award for being one of the Top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years, and the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for excellence in local community service. Out West Restaurant Group is also an active contributor to non-profit organizations like California Care and CORE, providing support to restaurant employees and their families in times of need.

This opportunity invites candidates to join the Outback family as part of an hourly, non-exempt position with a competitive pay range of $16.90 to $17.00 per hour. While this role is not eligible for tips, it offers a rewarding work environment with a focus on career advancement and internal growth. The position is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering AUS-SOME dining experiences, working efficiently behind the scenes, and helping ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and food quality in the kitchen. As a valued team member, you will be responsible for maintaining smooth kitchen operations, including managing dishwashing areas, restocking supplies, adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations, and supporting overall restaurant teamwork.

Out West Restaurant Group emphasizes a hospitable culture that recognizes hard work, perseverance, and leadership. They close the restaurant on Thanksgiving and Christmas days to allow employees to spend precious time with their families. Additional amenities include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid sick leave, a paid day off after 90 days, flexible schedules, employee meal discounts, and access to a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program. For those seeking growth, the company offers a Shift Leader program with extensive on-the-job training and a clear path to advance within the organization.

The role requires physical stamina and the capability to work in fast-paced, hot and cold kitchen environments, handling equipment safely and efficiently. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred but not mandatory, and the company supports all employees with reasonable accommodations as required by law. The position also requires compliance with California regulations, including Responsible Beverage Service Certifications for California-based employees.
