Job Description
We are Out West Restaurant Group, the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States. Outback Steakhouse is a well-known Australian-themed restaurant chain that opened its doors in March 1988 and has since become celebrated for its unique blend of serious food quality and a fun dining atmosphere. At Outback Steakhouse, the focus is on delivering exceptional guest experiences by treating every customer 'Just Right' with warmth and hospitality. This company culture fosters mutual respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among its team members, affectionately called 'Outbackers.' The organization emphasizes training and development to ensure that every employee is equipped to perform at their best, creating memorable experiences for guests.
Out West Restaurant Group prides itself on being an inclusive and equal opportunity employer, ensuring fairness and respect for all employees. The group does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status and bases hiring decisions strictly on business needs and individual qualifications. Recognized for its outstanding performance, Out West has been ranked among the Top 50 Franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and earned the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for excellence in community service. The group is also actively involved with non-profit organizations such as California Care and CORE that support restaurant employees and their families.
The Dishwasher role at Outback Steakhouse presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a fun and rewarding career in the food service industry. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness and organization within the dishwashing area and supporting overall kitchen workflow. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.50 to $18.50, though it is not eligible for tips. This full-service restaurant role demands a commitment to health and safety standards, including rigorous adherence to food safety guidelines and sanitation policies.
Dishwashers will be responsible for operating dishwashing machines with an understanding of the chemical components and procedures necessary for proper maintenance. The job requires physical stamina to work in hot and cold environments, lift or carry items up to 30 pounds, and perform frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling. Employees must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, up to an 8-hour shift, in a fast-paced setting. Outback offers a hospitable culture that nurtures teamwork, recognizing hard work and leadership, and provides opportunities for growth such as the Shift Leader training program.
Employees benefit from comprehensive health insurance—including medical, dental, and vision—paid time off after 90 days, accrued paid sick leave, and public health emergency leave. Additional perks include flexible scheduling, meal discounts, a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program, and holiday closures on Thanksgiving and Christmas to celebrate with family and friends. Outback ensures reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities throughout the hiring process and employment. The company’s commitment to a positive work environment, growth potential, and recognition for effort makes this an ideal workplace for motivated individuals looking to start or advance their careers in the restaurant industry.
