Job Description

This job opportunity is with a restaurant seeking a dedicated Dishwasher who will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all wares used in both the front and back of the house. The role of the Dishwasher involves washing pots, pans, flatware, and glasses either by hand or using commercial dishwashers. Cleanliness is paramount; therefore, correctly placing and storing the cleaned equipment in designated storage areas is necessary to maintain order and accessibility throughout the restaurant. Additionally, the Dishwasher will stock serving stations, cupboards, and refrigerators with the needed dishes and utensils to guarantee that all stations are well supplied during operational hours.

The daily responsibilities also include cleaning trash receptacles and transporting dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work areas, which may involve manual carrying or using hand trucks. Beyond washing duties, there may be occasional assistance in food preparation and ensuring all work areas are kept safe, clean, and orderly at all times. Adherence to company guidelines, health codes, and sanitary practices is enforced strictly to provide a healthy workplace for both staff and customers.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail. Physical demands of the job include prolonged periods of standing or walking, lifting up to 60 pounds, repeated bending and stooping, and frequent immersion of hands in water. Flexibility for working various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

Candidates with restaurant experience are preferred, although this role is also an excellent entry position for individuals looking to start a career in food service. The Dishwasher must work well in a team-oriented environment, particularly with kitchen staff, to ensure efficient operations throughout the service periods. Job Duties

  • Washes all wares including pots, pans, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using dishwashers
  • Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas
  • Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils
  • Cleans trash receptacles with water or steam
  • Moves dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand or using hand trucks
  • May assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving, as directed
  • Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
