The role of a Kitchen Steward at ASM's Tucson Convention Center is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of kitchen and banquet services. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. The Kitchen Steward plays an essential supporting role by assisting with the setup and breakdown of event areas, maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining ware, and helping with light food preparation tasks as needed. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least one year of related experience in commercial kitchen preferred
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by events
- Ability to lift 30 pounds to the waist
- Ability to stand and walk for long hours
- Ability to work in fast-paced, physical environment
- Must follow proper personal appearance and grooming standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff
- Ability to maintain safe and sanitary work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent

- Familiarity with food storage and rotation practices
Job Duties
- Stage plates and setup breakdown area prior to events
- Assist FOH prior to events as needed
- Maintain sanitary and safe work environment
- Always maintain clean dry floors and walls, including sweeping and mopping
- Scrape food from dirty dishes and wash them by hand or place them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine
- Wash pots, pans, trays, worktables, walls, ranges, refrigerators, and meat blocks
- Segregate and remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers
- Steam clean or hose out garbage cans
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
- Help keep all china, glass, and silver in place, along with keeping the banquet storage areas stocked and orderly
- Help with light prep cooking and plating up
- Assist with proper food storage and rotation
- Report to work when scheduled, on time, in proper and clean uniform, including name tag
- Keep track of the cleaning supply usages and inform chef when supplies are getting low
- Clearly communicate with Kitchen Supervisor and Executive Chef
- Responsible for communicating well with team members while maintaining a positive and professional work environment
- Follow direction given by the Kitchen Supervisor and Executive Chef
