The General Utility role combines responsibilities that ensure the operational effectiveness of kitchen and dining facilities through rigorous dishwashing, waste management, floor cleaning, replenishment of supplies, and inventory handling.

As a General Utility worker at Guest Services, the individual will play an essential role in sustaining a safe, orderly, and sanitary workplace. This includes both skilled and routine maintenance duties along with ground-keeping and housekeeping tasks necessary to uphold health compliance standards. The job requires adherence to safety protocols and a keen awareness of operational hygiene.

Besides the routine cleaning and sanitation duties, the role demands physical stamina, as it involves frequent movement, lifting, and working under varied temperature conditions including hot kitchens, cold storage areas, and outdoor environments. The ability to handle commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning supplies effectively is vital. The individual must also possess strong customer service skills to proactively assist customers and coworkers and communicate effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

  • Partial high school education
  • previous experience in a custodial or kitchen utility role preferred
  • ability to stand for entire workday
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • ability to work in wet, hot, and cold environments
  • good communication skills in English
  • physical stamina
  • willingness to perform repetitive tasks
  • availability to work various shifts
  • physical presence at job site required

Job Duties

  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and cooking supplies using proper sanitation procedures
  • Pull trash from trash receptacles
  • replace trash bags as needed
  • clear trash from tables and floors/grounds
  • Clean floor area of any spillage of water, detergent and/or food stuffs per safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Fill condiments, utensils, and other supplies with stock as needed
  • Loading and unloading of inventory from trucks
  • stocking storeroom
  • Maintain the kitchen, serving, and dining areas in clean and orderly condition at all times by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping counters and equipment and organizing shelves in order to maintain a sanitary work station and to meet mandated health compliance requirements
  • Maintain awareness of safety issues, and report them immediately to your manager
