Job Requirements

  • Meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Work variable, flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Stand and/or walk for entire shift
  • Perform duties in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures
  • Handle extremes in water and air temperature
  • Safely transport items on slick and uneven surfaces
  • Safely carry containers weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Transport dishes, bus tubs and trays within kitchen and dining areas including stairs
  • Safely move throughout restaurant areas

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is an asset but not required
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
  • Basic understanding of sanitation standards
  • Willingness to follow all safety and operational protocols
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Wash, sanitize and dry dishes, utensils and kitchenware as requested by management or staff
  • Safely wash and sanitize all kitchen utensils and machinery
  • Ensure cleanliness of all washed items
  • Follow proper dishwashing sequence according to standing operating procedures
  • Maintain workflow pace to prevent backup of dirty dishes and glassware
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
  • Return items to appropriate area after washing and sanitizing
  • Read and understand thermometer readings
  • Maintain and troubleshoot dishwashing machinery
  • Properly operate dishwashing machines and cleaning supplies
  • Identify cleaning supplies and their specific uses
  • Assist with general cleanliness of kitchen back-of-house
  • Perform duties independently if necessary
