This full-time supervisory position reports directly to the Manager of Operations for Production & Packaging and is focused on overseeing more than thirty food production employees. The role is integral to ensuring food safety, quality assurance, proper sanitation, and regulatory compliance within a high-volume food production environment. With responsibilities that include labor and material cost controls, maintaining production standards, and managing employee scheduling and retention, this position demands strong leadership skills and an ability to foster a positive and productive team environment. Salary ranges from $80,168.40 to $80,464.00 annually, reflecting the importance of this position within the organization. The supervisor is expected to maintain daily operational logs, inventory controls, and coordinate closely with maintenance to ensure equipment reliability. They will also prepare management reports, manage workflow, and ensure strict compliance with company wage and hour policies, including the enforcement of employee rest and meal breaks.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in training and mentoring staff, capable of delivering feedback and driving performance improvements. Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills are essential, as is proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to obtain or already hold SERV Safe Certification. Experience in labor relations is a plus but not required. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in food production or related field
  • Leadership skills to manage over 30 employees
  • Knowledge of HACCP, FDA, USDA regulations
  • Ability to train and coach staff
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain SERV Safe Certification
  • Flexibility to manage union workforce
  • Ability to prepare and maintain operational reports
  • Strong time management skills
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with labor laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment preferred
  • Strong and effective leadership skills with ability to manage staff of 30+ hourly employees
  • Experience in labor relations is a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensures quality production standards are followed and maintained
  • Ensures employees adhere to HACCP, FDA, USDA and safety regulations and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Prepares management reports such as attendance, HACCP and labor reports
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures
  • Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to airline specifications
  • Ensures that all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures
  • Conducts inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste
  • Completes required requisitions for the Storeroom to ensure adequate supply is maintained
  • Responsible for maintaining daily temperature logs and other logs and reports as required
  • Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner
  • Controls material cost and other controllable costs
  • Maintains all financial goals related to productivity, overtime, labor goals and hours per flight
  • Works with management staff to improve performance of the unit
  • Manages work flow balancing - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift
  • Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs such as sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes
  • Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get rest and meal breaks and company processes are followed
  • Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses
  • Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees
  • Responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover
  • Responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions for employees in compliance with union/collective bargaining agreements
  • Reviews and ensures employees in chain of command are in correct cost centers and correct job titles
  • Reviews and ensures union represented employees’ pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority
  • Compliance with all company required policies, procedures and processes including but not limited to required training
