The Food Service Cleaning Attendant position at St. Charles Health System plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen tools, dishes, and food preparation areas. Reporting directly to the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Service Cleaning Attendant is responsible for washing and sanitizing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashers and cleaning tools. Job Requirements
- Must possess Deschutes County Food Handlers Card
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must be able to stand and walk for 75% or more of the work shift
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights between 1-50 pounds as required
- Ability to perform tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and occasional ladder use
- Ability to work in wet/slippery areas safely
- Must have ability to use clear and audible speaking voice
- Ability to hear normal speech levels
- Ability to handle exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solutions, and uneven surfaces occasionally
- Complies with safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a food handling environment preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic to intermediate computer skills including email and MS Office applications.
Job Duties
- Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment/utensils, pots, and/or pans using commercial dishwashers or by hand
- Restocks all clean dishes and equipment once they are sanitized
- Retrieves used food trays and carts from patient care areas throughout shift as scheduled
- Completes all assigned opening/closing procedures and check-lists
- Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Performs routine cleaning of floors, mats, walls, cooking equipment, carts, ceilings, and kitchen or food service equipment
- Uses cleaning chemicals to sanitize kitchen facilities including deep cleaning of equipment, floor mats, dishwashing machine, floors, carts, refrigerators, and counters
- Cleans garbage cans with water or steam
- Sorts and removes waste and recycling, placing it in designated pickup areas
- Sweeps and scrubs floors
- Provides support to other food services areas including delivery of food to patients when needed
- Supports the organization's vision, mission, and values
- Upholds safety standards and professional conduct
- Follows all applicable laws and policies
- Delivers customer service and patient care promoting goodwill
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
