Job Description
This healthcare organization is a well-established hospital with a history dating back to 1890, growing into a major health treatment and referral center specializing in cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care, and physical rehabilitation. Renowned for its Magnet Hospital designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for superior nursing care, the hospital operates 300 licensed beds providing tertiary (high tech) medical-surgical services with a focus on elective and outpatient care. Backed by innovation and a patient-first culture, it has earned strong quality scores and positive media attention, leveraging advanced clinical technologies such as robotics, AI-assisted decision support, virtual nursing, and real-time analytics to enhance patient outcomes. The hospital fosters an environment of continuous improvement and safety, featuring hospital-at-home pilots, telehealth expansion, and value-based care models, within a culture emphasizing Just Culture principles, transparent reporting, and measurable harm reduction.
The Director Patient Safety of Quality Control role offers a leadership opportunity to guide the hospital's quality assurance and patient safety efforts within a high-reliability framework. Reporting to senior executives including the Chief Quality or Patient Safety Officer and collaborating closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), and service line leaders, this role oversees the Quality Assurance function synonymous with Patient Safety and Quality Control. The Director will champion QAPI strategy, regulatory and accreditation readiness, safety event management, and a variety of performance improvement initiatives such as RCA2, FMEA, peer review, OPPE/FPPE, and bundle compliance for sepsis, stroke, and AMI. A commitment to HAI reduction, alignment with antimicrobial stewardship, and embedding high-reliability practices further define the role.
Supported by a multidisciplinary team of clinical educators, data analysts, project managers, and partners from nursing, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy, case management, social work, and physicians, the Director fosters an inclusive governance structure that empowers frontline staff and accelerates adoption of evidence-based care pathways. The role is ideal for a dynamic leader passionate about using evidence to drive sustained performance and improve patient safety outcomes.
Located in Central Colorado, the hospital not only offers excellent professional rewards but also an outstanding quality of life with year-round outdoor recreation, vibrant cultural events, strong schools and universities, a balanced cost of living, diverse housing options, and a welcoming community environment. The region boasts manageable commutes, expanding public transit and bike-friendly corridors, clean air, and easy access to nature areas like Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. The community is supported by modern digital infrastructure, respected healthcare services, and a thriving local economy with entrepreneurial energy and convenient air travel connectivity.
The Director of Patient Safety of Quality Control can expect competitive compensation packages with performance incentives, relocation assistance, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, employer-supported retirement savings, generous paid time off, parental leave, tuition assistance, paid continuing education units, certification bonuses, mental health resources, wellness programs, and clear pathways for career advancement. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned quality assurance professional to make a meaningful impact on patient safety and healthcare delivery while enjoying a fulfilling lifestyle in an inspiring location.
