Job Description

As part of the renowned Marriott hospitality family, Residence Inn specializes in offering extended-stay accommodations designed to combine the comfort of home with the luxury of a hotel environment. This brand prides itself on delivering exceptional guest experiences that cater especially to business travelers and families seeking longer-term lodging options. The new Residence Inn Claremont aims to establish itself as a premier destination for guests through top-tier service, innovative amenities, and a commitment to superior hospitality standards.

The role in question is for the Opening Director of Sales, often referred to as the Sales Captain, who will play a pivotal role in successfully launching and driving the hotel's sales initiatives. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales and revenue generation leading up to and following the hotel’s grand opening. The Director of Sales will develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans that are aligned with the hotel’s overall strategy, focusing on achieving and surpassing revenue targets. The successful candidate will have a profound impact on both guest and owner satisfaction by spearheading revenue-maximizing tactics and fostering strong client relationships.

In this full-time leadership position, the Opening Director of Sales will participate in the crucial opening sales processes, collaborate closely with various hotel departments, and guide the sales team towards excellence. They will be tasked with maintaining robust connections with corporate clients, groups, and travel partners, actively representing the hotel in networking events, trade shows, and community functions to maximize visibility and business development opportunities. Additionally, this role entails a strategic approach towards market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and pricing optimization in partnership with the Revenue Management team to ensure the hotel stays ahead in a competitive landscape.

The role also emphasizes team development, requiring the Director of Sales to provide ongoing training, leadership, and mentorship to associates to cultivate a high-performing sales team. Accurate sales reporting and forecasting through effective use of CRM systems will be essential to track progress and make data-driven decisions. The Director will closely collaborate with the General Manager and Corporate Director of Sales to ensure alignment and cohesiveness of strategies. This position demands a professional demeanor, a capacity to handle frequent interactions with clients and the local community, and a commitment to uphold the hotel’s brand standards at all times. The role promises an exciting opportunity for a dynamic sales leader passionate about launching a flagship hotel and creating lasting success.
