As part of the Marriott International family, this hotel upholds the global brand's reputation for quality and customer satisfaction while serving a diverse clientele ranging from business travelers to tourists. The Courtyard Marriott San Jose Airport focuses on maintaining a dynamic and supportive work environment that fosters growth, innovation, and professional development for its staff. The hotel's dedication to community involvement, sustainability, and operational efficiency helps it stand out in the competitive hospitality industry.
The Courtyard Marriott San Jose Airport is currently seeking a talented and motivated sales professional to lead its sales team. This role is critical in driving the hotel's revenue growth through the development and execution of strategic sales plans utilizing direct sales, marketing initiatives, e-commerce channels, public relations, and community partnerships. The position offers a competitive salary range of $115,000 to $135,000 per year and presents a clear growth path, including opportunities to advance from Area Director of Sales to Regional Director of Sales, Corporate Director of Sales, and ultimately Vice President of Sales.
The successful candidate will be responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, and supporting associates to ensure they meet established brand and hotel standards while embodying the company’s core values. They will develop strategic plans based on internal and external market data to incorporate multiple business segments and enhance customer value. A key aspect of the role involves identifying the specific business requirements of customers and crafting attractive offers that increase the hotel's revenue share. Leadership responsibilities include modeling effective sales techniques, developing team members, and demonstrating a strong commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
In addition to managing a high-performing sales team, this individual will monitor the achievement of sales objectives, taking corrective action to address any shortfalls against the annual marketing plan. Maintaining enduring relationships with key accounts is essential to bolster customer satisfaction and account revenue. The role requires proficiency in professional sales negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions that meet both internal and external stakeholder requirements. The Director of Sales will also prepare and maintain a detailed annual marketing plan outlining specific, measurable initiatives for growing each business segment.
Communication skills, both oral and written, are vital to effectively presenting ideas, recommendations, and conclusions to clients and team members. The candidate must be willing to travel locally to conduct outside sales calls, promote the hotel, and stay informed about competitive market activities. The position supports Marriott’s EarthView sustainability program and encourages environmentally responsible business practices.
This position requires a four-year college degree, ideally supplemented with advanced coursework in business administration, marketing, or communications. Prior sales experience in similar-sized hotels is essential and operational experience is desirable. Strong public relations and community marketing skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and hotel management databases such as Delphi and Access.
The Courtyard Marriott San Jose Airport offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision health insurance; paid time off; a 401k company match; and free basic life insurance. Additional perks include travel discounts, commuter transit and parking benefits, quarterly bonuses and incentives, an employee assistance and wellness program, educational and professional development opportunities, and technology reimbursements. The work environment demands flexibility in schedule, occasional holiday and weekend work, and moderate local travel. Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, reaching, and dexterous use of hands and fingers for keyboard operation.
At the heart of the Courtyard Marriott San Jose Airport’s philosophy are its core beliefs: "People Are Our Capability," "Hearts That Serve," "Only Excellence," "Stay Nimble," and "Own It." The organization is dedicated to promoting a culture of excellence, agility, responsibility, and heartfelt service that supports both employee well-being and superior guest experiences.
