The Director of Sales role at Mid-Continent Hospitality is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving all revenue-generating efforts within the hotel. This full-time employment opportunity focuses on developing long-term business, strengthening community relationships, and specifically enhancing extended-stay performance. The Director of Sales serves not only as a sales strategist but also as a proactive leader whose relationship-driven approach builds strong partnerships with corporate, government, relocation, project-based, and crew accounts. This role demands expertise in executing disciplined sales strategies, perfect account management, and innovative marketing tactics to maximize hotel revenue streams.

In this position, the Director of Sales undertakes proactive sales activities such as prospecting, outside sales calls, networking, and participating in community and industry events. Collaboration is key in this role, with the Director working closely alongside the General Manager and Regional Director of Sales and Revenue Management to develop strategies that optimize pricing, guest mix, and length of stay, ensuring that hotel revenue targets are consistently met or exceeded. This role is dynamic and requires extensive travel within city limits and occasional overnight trips for corporate or industry events.

Additionally, the Director of Sales is tasked with maintaining internal communications with various hotel departments like operations, front desk, and housekeeping to ensure seamless service delivery, particularly for long-term guests. The position involves preparing timely and accurate sales reports, hosting property tours, generating proposals aligned with brand standards, and contributing to the annual budgeting and marketing plans. Candidates for this role should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and proven experience in hospitality sales with major brands, preferably Marriott.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in business administration or hospitality preferred
  • minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality sales and marketing preferred
  • valid driver’s license with MVR in good standing
  • ability to travel up to 50% within city limits and up to 10% overnight for industry or corporate events
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work in high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • excellent time management skills
  • knowledge of hospitality and/or property management preferred

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in business administration or hospitality preferred
  • minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality sales and marketing preferred
  • strong mathematical skills to collect, measure, organize and analyze data
  • major brand experience required, preferably Marriott
  • proven record of meeting or exceeding sales /catering goals
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Job Duties

  • develop and grow business from corporate, government, relocation, project based, and crew accounts to maximize revenue with a focus on extended stay revenue
  • conduct proactive sales activities including prospecting, outside sales calls, networking, and participation in community and industry events
  • maintain strong account management practices through organized CRM usage, accurate production tracking, and timely follow up
  • host property tours, respond to inquiries, and prepare proposals that reflect brand standards and hotel value
  • collaborate closely with the General Manager, Regional Director of Sales and Revenue Management to develop and execute strategies that optimize pricing, mix, and length of stay
  • participate in the annual budgeting process and contribute to the revenue portion of the hotel budget
  • support the development and execution of the Annual Marketing Plan
