JW Marriott Nashville is a premier luxury hotel located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, known for its elegant accommodations and exemplary service that caters to business and leisure travelers alike. As part of the prestigious JW Marriott brand, the hotel is committed to delivering an unparalleled guest experience by maintaining high standards of hospitality and excellence. The establishment prides itself on fostering a welcoming environment that promotes growth, inclusivity, and a vibrant culture among its associates. This dedication to excellence is supported by the hotel’s state-of-the-art facilities, strategic location, and a passionate team devoted to upholding Marriott's core values of quality, integrity, and outstanding service. JW Marriott Nashville also actively participates in community engagement and sustainability initiatives, further reinforcing its commitment to making a positive impact both internally and externally.
The role of Director of People + Culture at JW Marriott Nashville is a pivotal leadership position reporting directly to the Hotel General Manager and working closely with the executive leadership team. This role commands a comprehensive oversight of all Human Resources functions within the hotel, aligning HR programs and processes with Turnberry’s core values. The Director leads a dedicated team of HR professionals and is responsible for delivering efficient and effective People + Culture services, which encompass talent acquisition, associate relations, training, performance development, internal communications, and associate engagement initiatives. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who is passionate about addressing complex organizational and people challenges while fostering a positive culture and building high-performing teams in a luxury hospitality environment.
The Director of People + Culture is expected to develop and execute the hotel’s People + Culture strategy that supports operational excellence and enhances the guest experience. This includes managing performance management systems, driving associate engagement, spearheading talent acquisition and retention efforts, overseeing compensation and benefits programs, and implementing learning and development initiatives. The role also involves serving as a culture champion to cultivate trust, accountability, and engagement across all levels of the organization.
Leadership and talent development are central to the position, requiring the Director to coach and develop their HR team, partner with leaders to create individual talent development plans, and ensure the integrity of the performance management process. Compliance and associate relations activities are also critical, necessitating adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws, as well as company and brand standards. The Director is responsible for managing policies that foster effective people management and navigating sensitive employee relations matters with fairness and timeliness.
In addition, the Director plays a vital role in organizational effectiveness by advising the executive team on organizational design, workforce planning, and compensation structures. This ensures that the hotel meets its people-related goals while maintaining a strong focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and organizational culture. As an active member of the JW Marriott Nashville Leadership Team, the Director of People + Culture will be a vocal advocate for elevating the workplace environment, enhancing employee experience, and driving continuous improvement within the organization. The job necessitates a high level of integrity, results-driven focus, resilience, collaboration skills, emotional intelligence, and innovative thinking to champion transformative changes in a competitive luxury hospitality market.
