This particular role is for a Director of Operations at the JW Marriott Anaheim and represents a significant leadership position within the hotel. The Director of Operations will support the General Manager by overseeing critical departments such as Rooms, Food and Beverage, Finance, Sales and Marketing, as well as Repairs and Maintenance. This role is instrumental in achieving operational efficiency, driving guest satisfaction scores, and meeting the financial objectives set by the hotel's ownership. The Director of Operations will also serve as the acting General Manager during their absence, highlighting the importance and seniority of this position.

Candidates should be prepared to lead and coordinate with operational managers, ensuring successful implementation of the hotel’s strategic plans and compliance with brand standards. They will be expected to develop and manage budgets, foster a high-performance culture through hiring, training and performance evaluations, and solve conflicts efficiently. The compensation for this role ranges from $145,000 to $150,000 annually, with eligibility for discretionary performance bonuses but not tipped or service charge eligible. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience
  • Experience in both rooms and Food and Beverage departments preferred
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, security, personnel management, business planning, repairs, maintenance, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in both rooms and Food and Beverage
  • Computer literacy and financial management required
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Able to resolve guest, supervisor, and associate conflicts
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences

Job Duties

  • Lead all operational managers to success on daily, weekly, monthly and annual action plans related to property strategic plan
  • Plan, organize, facilitate, attend, and/or participate in various hotel and departmental meetings
  • Ensure compliance of brand standard operating procedures and policies
  • Develop and manage execution of Rooms/Food and Beverage division budgets and revenue forecasts
  • Develop and implement controls for expense management
  • Ensure staff is utilizing labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs
  • Interview, hire, train, develop, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate of staff members
  • As a member of the Executive Committee for the property, the Director of Operations is expected to help create and execute the financial objectives of the hotel
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
