Job Description
The Good Samaritan Society is a distinguished not-for-profit organization that has been dedicated to providing quality housing and care services to seniors for over 100 years. Rooted deeply in a Christian environment, this organization prides itself on its commitment to compassionate, respectful, and excellent care. The Good Samaritan Society operates various long-term care facilities, housing services, and community programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for senior residents across multiple locations. One such facility is the GSS IA Forest City Center located in Forest City, Iowa, which is committed to upholding these high standards of service and care.
This full-time position with a 40-hour work week involves working 8-hour day shifts at the Forest City Center. The role plays a vital part in ensuring that the nursing program within this long-term care facility meets and exceeds state and federal regulations, as well as organizational standards. The primary goal is to optimize geriatric care processes to enhance both the quality and efficiency of the services provided to residents. The nursing administrator is responsible for overseeing all nursing personnel, guiding staff performance, and ensuring adherence to policies related to nursing services.
In this leadership position, the individual will advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators on strategies and matters related to nursing services. The role encompasses interpreting the policies and objectives of nursing care to both staff members and the wider community, ensuring that everyone understands the standards and goals of the facility. The nursing administrator also manages scheduling and conducts performance reviews to foster a professional, skilled, and compassionate care team.
Assisting residents directly with nursing care when needed is also part of the position, bridging administrative responsibilities with hands-on care. Furthermore, this role plays an active part in marketing initiatives, including community engagement, organization of special events, and coordinating media activities that promote the center and its services.
The nursing administrator holds overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the long-term care center, encompassing the quality of resident care, program and care management, environmental safety, and budget management. This wide range of duties also includes ensuring regulatory compliance by coordinating clinical, operational, and managerial functions effectively. Managing and directing individual employees or teams to meet department objectives is central to this role.
Furthermore, the nursing administrator must maintain ongoing communication amidst the fast-evolving healthcare environment, adapting and maintaining current best practices in clinical services throughout the system. Leading the development and execution of clinical programs, policies, procedures, and protocols is pivotal to this position. Ensuring these guidelines are integrated across the system helps maintain the consistency and quality of care delivered by the facility’s nursing staff.
Candidates considering this role should understand the importance of strong leadership in a healthcare environment dedicated to senior care. This position requires not only nursing expertise but also administrative proficiency and strategic oversight capabilities to lead a nursing team effectively. An incentive bonus program is available, reflecting the organization's dedication to rewarding excellence and commitment in nursing leadership at the Good Samaritan Society Forest City Center.
