Job Description
Azul Hospitality is a distinguished hospitality management company known for operating premier hotels and resorts that focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences and maximizing operational efficiencies. Our philosophy is built around fostering a positive and productive working environment, maintaining high standards of service quality, and protecting the financial health of our properties. With a strong commitment to innovation, excellence, and customer satisfaction, Azul Hospitality consistently upholds its reputation as a leading player in the hotel industry, attracting guests worldwide and nurturing the careers of hospitality professionals.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations to join our leadership team. This pivotal role involves overseeing multiple functional areas throughout the hotel, including employee management, maintenance, sales, and financial performance controls. The Director of Operations will work closely with the hotel’s Executive Committee to ensure that the property achieves maximum profitability, maintains exceptional standards of guest service and product quality, and operates smoothly to meet and exceed business objectives. This position is an exempt, salaried role that requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and operational expertise.
The Director of Operations will be responsible for setting and monitoring quarterly goals for each department, ensuring staff duties are completed following established policies, and cultivating an atmosphere of open communication and cooperation across all internal teams. Another vital aspect of the role is overseeing human resource functions, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and adherence to company policies and benefits. Additionally, the Director will manage payroll costs, control expenses, assist in profit and loss management, and ensure compliance with governmental safety and health regulations such as OSHA and Cal-OSHA.
Critical to success in this role is the ability to resolve guest issues professionally and efficiently, promote up-selling techniques to optimize room occupancy and revenue, and maintain inventory controls so staff have the necessary tools to deliver excellent guest service. Candidates must possess intermediate computer skills, knowledge of property management systems, sales and point-of-sale systems, and the ability to perform complex budgetary analyses. The position demands a hands-on leader capable of navigating a dynamic and fast-paced environment while demonstrating patience, tact, excellent customer service, and strong organizational skills.
Physical demands include the ability to spend significant time inside the property, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally, and operating various office and hotel equipment. Attendance at operational meetings and departmental events is required to foster team collaboration and ensure continual improvement.
Azul Hospitality values dedication and accountability to maintaining high grooming standards and regular attendance, essential for the smooth operation of the hotel and consistent guest experience. The role may require occasional travel and demands a valid driver’s license to operate motorized or electric vehicles within the hotel premises.
Joining Azul Hospitality as the Director of Operations provides an exciting opportunity to contribute actively to the success of a prestigious hotel while advancing your career in hotel management. We offer a culture of respect, growth, and high achievement where contributions are valued and rewarded. If you are a motivated professional with a passion for hospitality excellence and operational leadership, we encourage you to become part of our dynamic team.
